Meeru Maldives Resort Island
A full island to yourself — 32 hectares, 40 years running
An island resort on Meerufenfushi Island
Meeru Maldives Resort Island occupies its own 32-hectare island in Meerufenfushi, with a single resort across the whole landmass. The property has been running for over 40 years and currently holds 282 rooms ranging from garden rooms to overwater villas with direct ocean access. The scale here sets it apart. Six restaurants, multiple bars, a Euro-Divers dive centre, a water sports centre, Duniye Spa with overwater treatment rooms, and a 9-hole pitch and putt course all sit on-island. A Komas Kids Club and designated adults-only spaces — including the Meeru Ocean Villas wing, the Maalan restaurant, and the Uthuru Bar — mean the resort works for families and adult-only stays at the same time.
Is this stay right for you?
A large, well-equipped island resort with serious dining variety, a proper dive operation, and enough on-island activity to fill a week without leaving.
Best for
- Couples wanting an adults-only wing
- Families with children (Kids Club on site)
- Divers and water sports enthusiasts
- Guests who prioritise dining variety
Less suited to
- Travellers who prefer a small, intimate property
- Those seeking a minimalist or design-forward stay
An island with a single resort
At 32 hectares, Meerufenfushi island is large enough that bicycle rental is a practical way to get around. The entire landmass belongs to one resort, so there is no shared road or neighbouring property. The island includes a museum with a blue whale skeleton.
Six restaurants, four bars
Farivalhu does international buffet nights on a sand floor. Asian Wok sits overwater and runs teppanyaki chef shows. The Reef is a beachfront grill. Vilu handles Mediterranean a la carte at dinner. A-Mare covers Italian and pizzas. Maalan is adults-only buffet dining. The property's own Dhoni Bar, Pavilion Bar and Kakuni Bar are on site.
Adults-only wing and spaces
The Meeru Ocean Villas are restricted to guests aged 18 and over. The wing has its own dedicated restaurant, Maalan, and Uthuru Bar. Beach Pool Villas face the sunset side of the island. The property's own Dhoni Bar, Pavilion Bar and Kakuni Bar are on site.
Duniye Spa on land and overwater
Duniye Spa runs treatment rooms on land and overwater. The dual setting means guests can choose between a garden-side or lagoon-facing room for their session, depending on availability.
Pools, courts, and a golf course
Two freshwater swimming pools, tennis courts, a fitness centre, a driving range, and a 9-hole pitch and putt course are all on the island. Badminton equipment is also available on site.
Room types from garden to overwater
The accommodation range runs from 50 m² Garden Rooms up to 195 m² Two Bedroom Beach Pool Villas with a private pool and outdoor spa tub. Overwater options include Jacuzzi Water Villas with direct ocean access.
